چکیده

In the era of freshwater scarcity, world seeks to limit overexploitation all accessible resource and also recover potable water by treating wastewater. Various domestic, agricultural industrial activities lead in generating high amount wastewater from which can be recovered for human needs. Over many years, conventional filtration process has gained success some extent effluents treatment disposal. Yet, improvement is necessary advanced order make whole handy cost-effective. The functionality membrane enhanced incorporating polymers with novel functions separation methods like microfiltration (MF) ultrafiltration (UF) reclaiming wastewaters, catalysis biomedical applications. This book chapter mostly focuses on use different polymeric substances MF UF preparation their application various sectors. Basic principle, manufacturing techniques membrane, design i.e., synthesis as designed feedstock, surface modifications, synergistic fabrication functionality, antifouling antibacterial properties are discussed.

Separation Properties of Wastewater Containing O/W Emulsion Using Ceramic Microfiltration/Ultrafiltration (MF/UF) Membranes

Washing systems using water soluble detergent are used in electrical and mechanical industries and the wastewater containing O/W emulsion are discharged from these systems. Membrane filtration has large potential for the efficient separation of O/W emulsion for reuses of treated water and detergent. The separation properties of O/W emulsions by cross-flow microfiltration and ultrafiltration wer...

Ultrafiltration through Collodion Membranes

It is obvious that the factors considered in this paper render data obtained by ultrafiltration open to criticism unless they are checked by other methods and precautions are taken for the elimination of the vitiating effects which have been described. As regards the mechanism of ultrafiltration, the view of a sieve-like action as most experimental evidence indicates, is adequate, if all the fa...

Permeability-Selectivity Analysis of Microfiltration and Ultrafiltration Membranes: Effect of Pore Size and Shape Distribution and Membrane Stretching

We present a modeling approach to determine the permeability-selectivity tradeoff for microfiltration and ultrafiltration membranes with a distribution of pore sizes and pore shapes. Using the formulated permeability-selectivity model, the effect of pore aspect ratio and pore size distribution on the permeability-selectivity tradeoff of the membrane is analyzed. A finite element model is develo...

Surface-micromachined microfiltration membranes for efficient isolation and functional immunophenotyping of subpopulations of immune cells.

An accurate measurement of the immune status in patients with immune system disorders is critical in evaluating the stage of diseases and tailoring drug treatments. The functional cellular immunity test is a promising method to establish the diagnosis of immune dysfunctions. The conventional functional cellular immunity test involves measurements of the capacity of peripheral blood mononuclear ...
